The Route

Starting in Seattle, WA on June 14th 2011 we hope to have arrived in Bar Harbor, MA by August 22nd 2011. Our journey from West to East Coast will take roughly 70 days, covering an estimated 7,000km (4,350 mi) and passing through 11 American States and 2 Canadian Provinces.

Schedule

Averaging 112km (70 mi) a day for 63 days, and allowing ourselves a rest day every 10 days, we hope to cover the 4,350 miles in just under 70 days. Our flights from New York have been booked for August 28th in order to provide extra time in case of any problems and to give us a few days to recover before heading home.

The Route

Points of specific scenic interest include the Rocky Mountains, Glacier National Park, the Great Lakes and Niagara Falls.

The majority of the expedition is along established routes mapped out by the Adventure Cycling Association, an American nonprofit organisation that researches and produces cycle-friendly maps of established cycling routes. Our route consists of sections from three map sets from the Adventure Cycling Route Network, primarily the Northern Tier Route with sections from the Northern Lakes and the Lake Erie Connector map sets.
